Hello,
I am looking forward to seeing all of you this Thursday for Back to School night. Please come at 6pm to the 7th grade classroom to hear all about the 7th grade academic program and yearly events. At 6:30pm we will gather with the rest of the school community in the gym. I will be leaving at 7:15pm. If you would like to set up a time to meet individually, please email me or call me at school.
Thank you,
Audrey Valiton
Weekly Homework:
Tuesday: Nightly reading log entries
Wednesday: Vocabulary Powerpoint presentation
Thursday: Physical Region Map ISN assignment
Friday: Timeline Powerpoint presentation
The 7th graders are expected to have no more than 70 minutes of homework (including all subjects) a night. However, students are required to read 20 minutes daily and this is not factored into their homework time. The 7th graders are reading The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton. They will be asked to complete research on the Trackstar website. Reading logs are due every Tuesday.
In social studies we will be studying about American history. We are reading from the Prentice Hall text and creating Interactive Student Notebooks. Ask your child about it.
The 7th graders are learning about each other through literature, language arts, and social studies. We need you to be a part of this journey! We welcome you to come in and share about your family traditions, personal experiences, and childhood stories. Our goal is that each parent will come in and share something with the class. You can tell stories about what it was like growing up in your family, or share a favorite recipe, show some pictures, or read your favorite picture book. Whatever you decide, your presence alone will enrich our class. Visitors are wlecome from 10:30-12:00 or 12:45-1:25 daily during September. Email me and let me know when you can stop by to see the class.
I look forward to working with you and your child this year.
Much love,
Ms. Audrey Valiton
The theme for 7th grade religion is the Life of Christ. We will be exploring the Gospels and much of the New Testament including the Acts of the Apostles and the Epistles or Letters. In order to lay a foundation to know Christ better, we have spent this past week coming to understand how God reveals Himself to us through History, and the Covenants He has made with His people--always seeking to draw us into a deeper relationship with Him--our creator and Father. To end this week, the students have worked to prepare a plan to integrate praying with Scripture into our class structure.
