Back to school night is Thursday, September 9. Hope to see you all here.
Schedule
Fourth grade has PE on Monday and Tuesday. Please have your student wear their PE t-shirt on these days. Red sweaters need to be worn on Wednesday for mass. Thank you for your patience.
Classwork Outside of School
This year St. Clare of Assisi has a new homework policy. Fourth grade is only allowed to have 40 minutes of homework (plus 20 minutes of reading) four nights a week. Many parents have requested having the homework early so their child can complete it over the weekend because of busy weeknight schedules. To try to accommodate these requests, I will be sending reinforcement work home on Thursday. This sheet will include projected assessment dates. Sometimes things come up at school which will cause me to make changes in projected dates. I will post updates in a timely fashion.
I am also attempting to erase the word "homework" from my vocabulary. Classwork done outside of school is for the purpose of teaching responsibility and reinforcing skills taught at school to help students master a particular skill.
Math
Archdiocese requires that all fourth grade students be able to add, multiply, subtract, and divide basic facts in three seconds or less. This will be a focus this year.
We also have a new math program that will support your child in reaching new levels of math. We are working on place value and giving change.
Language Arts
Our first unit in reading and language arts will be on "Risks and Consequences".
Science
We are working on geology and land forms.
Social Studies
We are learning about landforms of Colorado.
