Dear Parents,
Our 5th grade band has hit the ground running! They are very enthusiastic about playing their instruments and they are doing very well for the first week. All of the students have received a fingering chart and their first few practice pages of music and rhythm exercises.
I am using a program called "Karate Band" for the assessment of our young musicians. The students have received a short example of music to learn and play, a rhythm to count and clap, and a short written exercise in music theory. When each of the students has successfully completed these three activities they will receive a white ribbon (belt) to tie to their instruments. They will then receive new exercises to perform for their next level.
Please let me know if you have any questions. We are off to a good start!
6th, 7th, and 8th grade students have received music for "God Bless America" which we hope to perform at the Veterans Day Program. I will keep you posted on the date and time of this performance.
Have a wonderful day!
