Sacraments - Baptism
"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments." (1213, Catechism of the Catholic Church)
Through the waters of Baptism, the first of three Sacraments of Initiation, the stain of Original Sin is washed away; we receive an indelible mark making us children of God; we become members of Christ; we become members of his Mystical Body, the Church; and we share in her mission to proclaim the Gospel to every part of the world.
There are scheduled sessions throughout the year for the parents of children through age six who would like to have their child baptized. These sessions are required if it has been three years since you last attended Baptism preparation sessions. Parents are encouraged to do the preparation prior to the birth of the child. Information presented includes sacramental preparation as well as family spirituality. Both parents are encouraged to participate, whether Catholic or not; and, of course, the new baby is welcome.
Pre-Registration is necessary to attend these sessions. All baptismal classes are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month at St. Mary's in Eagle at 6:30pm.
